Living Like We're Looking
Reading Lesson: II Peter 3
Other References: Matthew 24; Titus 2:13
The title of this week's lesson may seem strange, but it begs the question "How are we living?" Are we consumed in the here and now? Are we drinking with our heads down, as those in the army of Gideon who were dismissed from service? Or, are our eyes focused on the sky, and our ears listening for that special sound? In short, are we living like we're looking for someone's arrival?
If we really believe the Lord is coming back, and we know that this could happen at any time, then there should be an urgency in our hearts about the work of the Lord, especially concerning lost people. Like a farmer with a crop to harvest, who sees the storm clouds in the distance, we should be intent on getting our lost loved ones into the fold before the rain starts.
Let us pray for a deeper zeal, and a greater sense of urgency for the work of the Lord. Let us pray for burdens and for opportunities to witness to those around us who do not know the Lord. And, let us pray for strength, courage and greater faith.
