Pastor's Biography
| Brother Douglas Skinner came to Bethel MBC as pastor in October of 2006. He moved with his family to Indianapolis from Nashville, Tennessee. Pastor Skinner answered the call to preach in 1991, at age 19, while a member of Calvary MBC in Bolivar, Missouri. He preached as a licensed minister by appointment until he was ordained and called to pastor his home church. He served Calvary MBC as pastor from 1997 to 2004 before being called to the pastorate of Mt. Calvary MBC in Nashville. |
Pastor Skinner graduated from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. He later obtained a Master of Science in Health Services Administration, also from SBU, in 1998. Married to Marcia for 12 years, the Skinners began dating while in High School and have known each other most of their lives. Their home has been blessed with three children, Ryan (9), Rheagan (8), and Treyton (2) who makes certain that the Skinner household is lively and exciting. “I’d rather wear out than rust out!” has been Pastor Skinner’s motto for the past ten years. After fulfilling his duties as pastor, employee, husband and father, he does enjoy collecting notes and bonds of the Confederate States of America. He also serves as Chaplain for the A.J. Ringo Camp #1509, Indiana Division, Sons of Confederate Veterans. Pastor Skinner’s passion in life is serving the Lord, preaching the gospel and watching God work in people’s lives. He has been privileged in his 35 years to see many people saved, dozens called to preach, scores shout and praise the Lord, and countless numbers stand and thank the Lord for saving them via a personal, heartfelt, EXPERIENCE. His desire is for the entire world to know about the necessity of having a TIME and a PLACE where THEY KNOW BEYOND A DOUBT that God spoke peace to their troubled soul. While Pastor Skinner enjoys all of the life that God has given him, he states that the only thing which will endure is the exchange he experienced on June 26, 1989 when God saved his soul about 6:00 p.m. while in a sleeping bag on the basement floor of his parent’s houses. Since that night, Brother Skinner has lived in six different houses but is still yet to get home. |
