What Happens When A Christian REALLY Prays?

Prayer may be the most talked about and die least utilized tool in the Christian arsenal. But when God's people REALLY pray, something very special happens. You may have heard the song lyric that says "Prayer changes things and it changes me." This lesson looks at what really happens when a person actually connects with heaven through the vehicle of prayer.

1. Our focus turns from earthly things and turns to heavenly things. It produces perspective.

2. We acknowledge His power/preeminence and our weakness/unworthiness. It produces humility.

3. We are reminded of how much He does and means to us. It produces thankfulness.

4. We approach Him as we are, confessing our sins and shortcomings. It produces honesty.

5. We talk to God and He talks to us, as though He was visible and in the room with us. It produces communion.

6. We draw nigh to God, aspire to be more perfect, and strive to please and honor Him. It produces piety.

7. We become willing for His will to be done in our lives. It produces self-denial and direction.

8. We reconnect with our power/supply source and receive what we need. It produces strength.

9. We begin to see more clearly and appreciate the difference in the temporal and the eternal. It produces priority and vision.

10. We come to God believing that we will have what we ask. It produces faith.

11. We become more aware of the debt of service we owe Him and renew our commitment to work for Him. It produces zeal and dedication.

12. We become fit for God's use to reach others. It produces instrumentality.
